The program presented here is the same program that Mr. Scrima teaches at the Chinese Martial Arts Center and is responsible for many National Kung Fu Grand Champions. White Belt

The Chinese have a saying "Without a proper begining...there is no hope for a right ending". This saying demonstrates the importance of learning this first level thoroughly. To build a solid foundation from which to launch your study of Chinese Martial Arts.

The major stances, the basic punching and kicking techniques, the basic blocks, and several Qin Na (Joint Locking) and self defense techniques are introduced. The first form - Tzo Chi Quan (Primary Fist) is also taught.

Two months of training are required to complete this level.

   

Gold Belt

Each level can be viewed as a stepping stone to higher knowledge and skill. In the Gold Belt Level you will learn other basic kicks and combinations, continue to build up your knowledge of Qin Na techniques, start learning some break-falls, expand your self defense skills, and learn the form "Gong Li Quan - Power Training Fist".

As the name implies, Gong Li Quan teaches the proper development of power in your techniques. Correct application of power is essential to rendering your kung fu techniques effective.

Three months of training are required to complete this level.

Orange Belt

The Orange Belt Level introduces you to the first two men form in our system, "Liu Jia Dui Quan (Liu family partner set)". Two men or partner forms are pre-arranged fighting routines which are unique to Chinese Martial Arts.

Liu Jia teaches rapid and varied hand techniques along with various kicks. This form develops quick reflexes, builds fighting strategy and develops great speed. *

In addition to the partner form; intermediate level kicks, the first eagle claw partner locking set, and additional Qin Na and self defense techniques are also learned.

Three months of training are required to complete this level.

*Finding a partner to train with at this point is not only essential but it will make your practice more interesting.

Green Belt

The Green Belt will take you through your first year of training. From here on, the training will get more challenging with each level and the quality of your earlier training will be put to the test.

At this point, your leg strength, your flexibility and endurance should be considerable. Our practice now should be more intensive and of longer duration.

In this level you will begin to learn some advanced kicks, more combinations, Qin Na and self defense techniques. You will also learn your first Mizong Luo Han empty hand form "Chang Quan - Long Fist".

This level requires four months of training to complete.

Blue Belt

This level represents another stepping stone. You will be learning your first weapon form, the Chinese broadsword.

Practicing weapons will add new challenges and provide variety in your training. "In many martial arts systems, weapons are learned only at advanced levels if at all"


Besides the broadsword, you will learn other advanced kicking techniques, your throwing and breakfalling should now be a more regular part of your practice sessions, and you'll learn more of both. Another Eagle Claw locking set is also introduced as well as more Qin NA and knife defense techniques.

This level will take four months of training to complete.



Previous Level Required
   
Red Belt This is an exciting and challenging level. Besides additional kicks, Qin NA and the forth Eagle Claw locking set, "Choon Yang Gwun - Shepherd's Staff" the first long weapon form taught in our schools is taught.

In addition to the staff form, "Tong Bay I LU", the second partner for is also learned. This set teaches a variety of hand and leg techniques and more advanced fighting strategy.

This level is the final level before the Black Belt and here the student must demonstrate a higher level of skill, speed and power in the execution of different techniques.

Six months of training are required to complete this level.

Black Belt Advancement to Black Belt represents the achievement of a major goal. Not only will you learn "Jie Quan - The quick fist form" but also the famous Thunder Wind two man staff form.

To prepare for the Black Belt test, a student must also be able to perform all of the previous material from all other levels. Every form, kick, weapon and self defense technique must be performed with precision, power and speed.

Many students start out on the Martial Art journey but few achieve Black Belt.

This level can take up to eighteen months to complete.
